The “Pokerstars” flash drive (probably an imitation product) I ordered from eBay arrived today, and so did my new keyboard protector skin I bought online. So I quickly downloaded all the files and documents from Edventure onto the flash drive so that I can carry it around with all my school related documents on it. That means to say that I am possibly trying to motivate myself to step foot in the library to print out the material that I need.

I am aware that I haven’t been updating and posting as often as I should have/wanted to, but that mostly because I have been busy (typical excuse isn’t it?) with many things. I managed to finish reading the entire 1Q84 series by Murakami, gain most of the weight I lost from doing Muay Thai back, become so behind time in my school work, get my room into a messy state despite it only being weeks since I spring cleaned it, and make myself wonder how I got into such a messy state of things in just one month.

Of course, the past month wasn’t entirely put to waste. I had been playing poker with the group on a weekly basis, and had even purchased a proper set of chips to host the games at my place with. I managed to make some headway in figuring out what I wanted to do for the rest of the year, and at the same time saw for myself that certain people are just not worth my time totally.

I am thinking of getting a pro-sumer camera to start my journey in photography, but have been unable to decide on whether to get a DSLR or an ILC. So that will probably be put on hold until I have more time to actually go down to the shops to take a look properly. I also haven’t had the time to buy the frame for my Holstee poster, and intend to do so by this weekend.

For now, I am heading off to consolidate my backlog of school work so as to know how deep in shit I am for now.

Went for .2/.4 game at Greg’s place with my brother and his friends last night. The overnight session made me kinda realise how bad my health has become (old already) because I was thoroughly exhausted by the time my brother and I had breakfast with our parents and I hit the bed at 10am.

I woke up at around 6, slightly after my brother left for camp, and still felt a little groggy, that’s what age does to you (forgive the ramble about age, its the new year and I can’t help but lament my progress from my 23rd year of age). Spent the rest of the day doing up some orders and playing around with Instasign, which I think is a piece of art.

Going for the first Muay Thai session of the year tomorrow, and possibly going to build my barebone entertainment PC on Thursday or Friday.

The files on the server got wiped because of a malware infection, but I guess that is good too. I kinda think of it as starting afresh, which is something I need badly. Here’s to the best year we have ever had – 2012.

To kick start the new year, I am going to make a list of books I intend to read in the next 3 months. If I manage to find time amidst all the things I busy myself with, I might even post up a review of these books.

  • Thinking, Fast and Slow by Dan Kahneman
  • In the Plex: How Google Thinks, Works, and Shapes Our Lives by Steven Levy
  • The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham
  • Day Trading and Swing Trading the Currency Market by Kathy Lien
  • More Holdem Wisdom for All Players by Daniel Negreanu
  • Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion by Robert Cialdini
  • Trading Naked by Dr Foo Loon Sung
  • 1Q84 by Murakami (Books 1 and 2)
  • 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene
  • The Firm by John Grisham

Of course, this list is not exhaustive nor fixed, just a guideline to guide me along my reading journey so as to reduce to amount of time I spend idling. It is time to get started on a few other plans as well. Let’s go. Over the next few days I will be working on tidying up this place and adding some stuff to it during my free time that is not spent playing poker or mahjong.
